Robert Wiedmaier is one of our very first customers and began serving Santa Lucia Coffee to his guests 20 years ago. It began with a single restaurant and today as the RW Restaurant Group continues to expand he brings Santa Lucia Coffee to each new location. Whether its Marcel’s one of the top fine dining restaurants in the Nation’s Capital or the more casual setting of Mussel Bar and Grill guests will enjoy an American brew or Espresso Coffee made with Santa Lucia Estate beans.
Chef Wiedmaier has selected our Classic Roast, a medium-bodied coffee with a delicious chocolate finish. Using a French press, the best beans can be extracted as a cup alone or to accompany a dessert, without overpowering it. The Classic Roast’s additional notes of raspberry and apricot complement Chef Wiedmaier’s desserts, especially those with almonds, lemon, or chocolate.
Having traveled with us to Nicaragua to witness a coffee harvest first hand he still talks about the experience. “What is most appealing to me is the taste of the coffee, knowing where it was grown, on what soil.” Says Chef Wiedmaier. “The beans have a great oil content that gives it great flavor, and they are not over-roasted, which is key”
